Our volunteers are ready to help anyone with a genuine need…..

Basingstoke NeighbourCare is a voluntary organisation that offers support and assistance to those in genuine need throughout the Basingstoke area.

Those in need call the helpline, the support staff deal with the request by matching it to a team of volunteers. The arrangements are made and the task completed. There is no charge; though donations are welcome

Help requests tend to be driving and escorting people to medical appointments, shopping trips, light gardening, befriending..in fact, anything a good Neighbour would do!

History;

  • Basingstoke Neighbourcare began in 1995

  • Central office operation began in 1998

  • Awarded a National Lottery grant in 1999 for 3 years

  • Moved into the Orchard, the new home of Basingstoke voluntary organisations in 2002

  • Successfully bid for further Lottery funding; one of only 3 successful bids in whole of Hampshire in 2003
  • Over 260 tasks are completed every month
  • 6600+ tasks have been completed since 1995
  • 650 people have used NeighbourCare since 1995
  • There are 97 volunteers dedicated to supporting NeighbourCare
  • £6309.13 paid out in travelling expenses last year

The number of tasks completed each year has grown dramatically; further growth is predicted !

The important bit;

Basingstoke NeighbourCare only succeeds because of its constant awareness raising and it constant search for new volunteers. Without the work of the fantastic volunteers; all the NeighbourCare clients would suffer; their requests would not be met and extra pressure would be placed on statutory bodies and other organisations

  • Do you know someone who could be a volunteer? Expenses are paid and the time commitment can be as much, or as little as they want.
  • Do you know someone who could benefit from the help of NeighbourCare? Pass on the Helpline number – 01256 332424 – we’ll do the rest.
  • Do you know someone who could offer financial support? Fund raising is vital, the Lottery funds will not last forever. Fund raising ideas, and donations are always welcome

Thanks for reading……Basingstoke NeighbourCare’s great work and long term existence depends on clients, volunteers and funds….and that’s a FACT !
