Crackers, Competitions, Guests and Live Music – return of the BIG Christmas Show
14 December saw the annual BIG Christmas Show which was also the official start of the HRB Christmas schedules.
The show this year was 6 hours long from 12 – 6pm and started off by talking to Julie Jones about the hospital staff panto. We were joined by Jonathan from the hospital Chaplaincy team and from the local pantos there was Kian Zomorodian from Aladdin at the Anvil and Jenny Perry from Robin Hood and Maid Marian at the Corn Exchange in Newbury.
Nick from Hospital Radio Reading chose the winner of our panto ticket competition and Vernon Pearce was drawmaster for another weekend prize draw. Richard Smith also joined in the fun to talk about his Christmas show offerings and the new series of The Sunday Social that starts in January.
The centre piece was as usual cracker pulling with patients and staff around the wards, with lots of cracker jokes and instant requests. Unfortunately there was a few technical issues along the way this year too.
And last but not least we had live music on the studio from local gospel singing duo Soul Thirst.
It was a great afternoon that launched a festive 3 weeks ahead of Hospital Radio Basingstoke.
You can watch the video of the end of Soul Thirst’s performance below.
