SOS Summer at the Cherry Blossom Manor Summer Fete

The Sound of Sunday Summer Show will be coming from the summer fete of Cherry Blossom Manor care home in Bramley on Sunday 21 August.

The show visited the event in July and met some of the residents, chatted to them about the afternoon and will be playing some of their favourite songs.

There’ll also be live music plus the regular SOS Summer features of local news, Huntsford and The A to Z of Pop Trivia Challenge.

Sunday 21 August at 4pm.

SOS Extra Time Show 47 10 July 2022

10 years ago on 11 July 2012, the Olympic Torch came through Basingstoke on its way to London.  HRB was there to see it and made a special show with Mel Montagnon describing the event and talking to some of those who were there.

Back for our 30th Year!

It’s certainly been a strange year and lots of things are being done differently at the moment.  It’s not quite how we envisaged series 30 would start but we are back, still broadcasting from a remote studio, not able to go to the wards but hopefully still with a show to entertain our listeners for a Sunday afternoon.

We’ll have the regular features back like Soap Update, Show biz and Entertainment, news and sport, and the Quiet Quarter of an Hour.  We’ll also bring back Word Whizz, our Tell Me when Brain Teaser and Bits of Hits so there is plenty to get you thinking..  Superman 1940s Style will return later in the year and something new involving the Radio Times archive looks back at some classic TV memories.

Listen online or by any bed at the hospital.  Sundays live from 1.30pm,

Summer Show Returning this August

19 years after it was last on the air The Sound of Sunday Summer Show is returning this summer to HRB.

The previous idea of the show was to celebrate summer and the events that we enjoy going to.  As many of those are not able to go ahead this year, the idea of the 2020 version is to look back at some of the local events that we have brought listeners over the years,

The Froyle Fete is one such event, there’s the Alton Lions Party in the Park, the Alton Herald Classic Car Show and finally we celebrate the greatest summer of them all with the legacy of London 2012.  That show will feature the highlights of the show that was broadcast live from Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in 2016 along with some of the other times the park has been featured over the last few years.

The Sound of Sunday Summer Show will be on the air for 4 weeks at 2pm every Sunday from 9th August.

The Earworms are Back!

For 2 years, we closed the show with a song from the top 100 list of earworm tunes, tunes that when you hear then will stay in your head for hours.

So it was just a matter of time before we put together a compilation and that time has come.

It’s the show you won’t forget in a hurry featiring the likes of Europe, Culture Club and Carly Rae Jepson as well as The Bananna Splits, Terry Bush and Lionel Morton.

Boxing Day 5pm on HRB

We’re Back for Series 29

After our summer break, we’re back on the air this weekend.  It will be series 29 of the show, running through until next summer.

Most of the regular features will return including the Tell Me When Brain Teaser, with a hospital radio car sticker the prize this time around.  Superman 1940s Style returns in September and Memory Makers will be looking back at the World Athletics Championships Years.

Plus of course the Morrisons draw at 2.40 and during all of September and October, it’s HRB On Show at the front of the hospital every week.

See you live at 1.30 on Sunday.
