Summer Show Returning for 2022

The Sound of Sunday Summer Show is returning this August to promote what is happening in Basingstoke over the summer.

Running for 3 weeks during August, the one-hour show will promote the details of the many events that are hapening around the Basingstoke area during August and September.  There will also be some clips from summers past and brand new episodes of Huntsford each week.

The show originaly aired in 1998 as a lighter summer version of the regular Sound of Sunday which runs from September to July.  After a 19 year absense, it returned in 2020 and this will be series 6.

The show will air on a Sunday afternoon 4pm from Sunday 14 August.

SOS Extra Time Show 47 10 July 2022

10 years ago on 11 July 2012, the Olympic Torch came through Basingstoke on its way to London.  HRB was there to see it and made a special show with Mel Montagnon describing the event and talking to some of those who were there.

The Alton Show was always a fun event for HRB to be part of.  A team of volunteers would be stationed at the gate by the Hen and Chicken pub and take payments by cash and credit cards from those who were visiting the show, for which the show would make a donation to the station.

Afterwards there would be a chance to walk around the show and see what was going on and on a few occasions make a programme about it.  It’s hard to believe that the last Alton Show was in 2013 – finishing after over 100 years.

In 2012, HRB presenter Dave Warren made a programme about the event, talking to soem of those who were there and taking part and talking about what was going on.  Listen to the show below.

Jubilee Weekend Residents’ Requests Special

A Jubilee edition of Residents’ Requests will take centre stage on this weekend’s show.

The staff and Residents’ of Cherry Blossom Manor in Bramley have been talking about their memories of The Queen and the Ryal family in a special show that can be heard from 3pm on Sunday 5 June.

There were all sorts of stories and memories plus some great music chosen too.
